Las Vegas Raiders 7-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: A QB1 at pick No. 7

Terrapins . Jaelyn Duncan. 70. player. 824. . OT

Some Raiders fans have been taking it personally that experts have been linking the team with an offensive tackle because of the play of Jermaine Eluemunor at right tackle. With all due respect to Eluemunor, he was solid last season but also committed a ton of penalties and is not a guy that we see as a long-term starter out there.

This is where a guy like Jaelyn Duncan out of Maryland comes into the picture. Duncan has good size at 6-6 and 320lbs and could stand to add some weight to his frame to improve his strength and physicality. He has the long arms and big frame that you look for in a prototypical NFL tackle and can use both to keep defensive linemen off his body.

Scouts say that he is better at run blocking than pass blocking which is understandable considering pass protection is much more technical and skill-based than getting out there and running guys over. His footwork and general technique need some improvement but the Raiders have the benefit of not needing him to start right away though he certainly could if they shift Eluemunor inside.

The Raiders can get some value at tackle a little later in the draft but if a talented guy like Duncan is available at 70 then he would be a solid selection here. He can contribute immediately and we can expect him to be a swing tackle early on at the very least before taking on a bigger role.
