Raiders: 4 Derek Carr trade scenarios including a huge 2023 NFL Draft shift
Here is the one that should get Raider Nation real excited, as the Silver and Black move up five spots in the 2023 NFL Draft and grab the No. 2 overall pick. Of course, this means that Josh McDaniels and David Ziegler would have a great chance to land the quarterback of their choice, as at least two of the top-3 signal-callers will be available at this draft spot.
Las Vegas does send their No. 7 overall pick to Houston, which would have a chance to get a quarterback there as well, and have them learn behind Carr. This trade would also send Carr to the franchise that took his brother, David, No. 1 overall back in the 2002 NFL Draft.
New head coach DeMeco Ryans will want to get off to a fast start in his first season at the helm, and while he has a six-year deal, those never last that long if the team does not win. Carr can help him win now, and in an AFC South that had only one team above .500 during the 2022 NFL season, Houston would have a solid chance to make the playoffs next year.
Of course, Carr has a no-trade clause, and any of these scenarios could go up in smoke if he decides to just allow the Raiders to cut him and pick his own team. The franchise turned their backs on him over the last few weeks, and he may decide to just force them to cut him, and get nothing in return.
