Las Vegas Raiders: Looking at five 2023 Senior Bowl standouts

John Michael Schmitz – Center, Minnesota

There is a high chance the Raiders will address their offensive line with the number seven overall pick, but a double-up at the position could be worthwhile. Minnesota’s John Michael Schmitz came into the Senior Bowl as one of the top interior linemen in the draft and only solidified his status.

He is an all-around player with excellent movement skills and could be a plug-in-play type of guy from day one with any team. Pro Football Focus rated him as the top run-blocking guard in 2022, and continued to sing his praises in Mobile.

The Raiders appear to like what they’ve gotten out of Andre James so far, but he is by no mean untouchable in the starting lineup. A player of Schmitz caliber could provide stability in the run-and-pass game, along with the ability to be used as a puller and lead blocker on screens.
