Las Vegas Raiders: 3 starters from 2022 who are prime cut candidates

Andre James

Andre James has been the Raiders’ starting center for two full seasons now, taking over for an All-Pro in Rodney Hudson back in 2021. James has had some solid moments with the Raiders and has been serviceable in the role, but he has yet to break out and become someone the team should look at as a long-term solution at the position.

During the 2022 NFL season, Pro Football Focus ranked James as the No. 14 center out of 38 possible candidates, which is not a terrible place to be. However, for where he is ranked, he makes way too much money, and that could force the team to look elsewhere, especially with a new quarterback coming in 2023.

This upcoming season, James’ salary will count nearly $6.9 million against the cap but has a dead cap hit of only $1,920,000 if the team decides to cut him. That is nearly $5 million of cap space they could use to really bolster the offensive line, and if they do cut him, Dylan Parham is a candidate to take over at center.
