The Las Vegas Raiders had the best running back in football during the 2022 NFL season, and he was on full display during the NFL Honors ceremony Thursday.

On Thursday night, the NFL had their NFL Honors for the 2022 NFL season, and the Las Vegas Raiders saw their star player from this past year take home some hardware. Running back Josh Jacobs not only won the FedEx Ground Player of the Year honor, after dominating on the ground all season long, but he also took home the brand new, Jim Brown Award.

That award will go out annually to the player who leads the NFL in rushing yards, something Jacobs easily did by racing for over 1,600 yards last season. Jacobs also led the NFL in yards per scrimmage, so we knew when it came time to hand out awards for this past year’s campaign, he would be getting at least something.

The fourth-year back was outstanding for Las Vegas all season long, racking up 2,000 yards from scrimmage, and really being a constant when the offense struggled to play consistent football from week to week. As the team did not pick up his fifth-year option last offseason, Jacobs ran with a  chip on his shoulder all season long, culminating in the best season of his career.

His career year put him on the map as arguably the best young running back in football.

Raiders have to keep Jacobs around for the long-haul

Sure, paying a running back is not something most teams are willing to commit to, but Jacobs is more than just a good running back. This is a guy who is a legitimate dual threat, and over the last two seasons, he has averaged over 50 catches, while rushing for over 2,500 yards combined.

Thursday night was another example of why Jacobs should be in the Silver and Black for the long haul, and he has already expressed his desire to stay with the franchise. He even has the Raiders logo tattooed on himself, so when it comes to offseason priorities for 2023, and beyond, Jacobs is right up there with any of them.
