Raiders 2023 7-round NFL Mock Draft: What if Aaron Rodgers arrives?

879. . Defensive Tackle. Tigers . Bryan Bresee. 38. player

In a previous mock draft where we had the Raiders trade down from the 7th overall pick to the middle of the first round, we had them grabbing Clemson defensive tackle Brian Bresee with the 16th overall pick. He is currently projected to be a mid to late first-round pick but some scouts have him ranked as the top defensive tackle in the class.

In this mock draft, we take advantage of Bresee dropping to the second round and grab him with the 38th overall pick to address a major need on the Raiders’ defensive line. The former Clemson lineman measures in at 6-5 and 305 pounds and has incredible strength and athletic ability.

Bruce Feldman has him on his annual “Freaks List” as he wrote, “The former five-star was a third-team All-ACC selection (15 tackles, three TFLs) despite being limited to four games due to a torn ACL in late September. Bresee benched 435 pounds, power-cleaned 330, and deadlifted 585. He has vertical-jumped 30 inches, but the most impressive number is him clocking in the high 4.7s in the 40.”

Bresee has all the physical tools necessary to be a dominant defensive lineman and he could be the missing piece on the Raiders’ D-line. Bresee’s size and strength will attract double teams and that should free up the likes of Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones on the edges.

There are concerns about him coming off an ACL injury but we have seen how routine those can be as long as the damage to the knee is not catastrophic the Raiders would be absolutely blessed if Bresee lasted until the second round, but we take advantage of him falling in this mock draft.
