Raiders 2023 7-round NFL Mock Draft: What if Aaron Rodgers arrives?

Mountaineers . Bryce Ford-Wheaton. 143. player. 877. . Wide Receiver

Bryce Ford-Wheaton is one of the more divisive receiver prospects in this year’s class. Some draft sites have him as a mid-round pick while others have him as a 7th-rounder or even an undrafted free agent. We like the physical attributes that he brings to the table and feel that he can be a productive wide receiver in the Raiders’ offense and grab him with the 143rd overall pick.

Ford Wheaton measures in at 6-3 and 222 pounds and ran a 4.50 40 which is just a tad faster than Mack Hollins who is of a similar build.  the difference between Ford-Wheaton and Hollins is that the former Mountaineer is known for running precise routes and creating separation between him and the defensive back.

Both he and Hollins would make for great jump ball threats in this offense but that is of course if the Raiders bring Hollins back next year.

The physical wide receiver was another player listed on Bruce Feldman’s freak list where he showed off his strength and agility to go along with his impressive size. Feldman wrote, “At 6-3 1/4, 224, Ford-Wheaton puts up some big numbers in the training program. He vertical-jumped 40 inches, broad-jumped 10-8; had a 4.02 pro agility time, and went 6.68 in the L-drill.

In addition, he power-cleaned 365 pounds”.

One thing that Ford-Wheaton will have to work on if he wants to be a contributor in this offense is his run-blocking ability but that can be coached up at the NFL level. His top-end speed is not elite but he has the size to out-jump smaller corners and has shown an inability to make big-time catches downfield.
