Raiders 2023 free agency: 3 teams that make sense for Derek Carr

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Not only did Tom Brady’s retirement affect the Raiders’ likely off-season plans, but it also crippled the Buccaneers. With a roster entirely built around making Super Bowl runs with the G.O.A.T. under center, they are now left to decide if they should make one more run or start over. If they choose to take one more shot in a weak NFC South, Carr makes a ton of sense.

For Tampa Bay, the allure of Carr is twofold. First of all, they could keep him from signing with the rival Saints. Secondly, Carr gives them a real chance to win a weak division and perhaps make one more run in the playoffs.

With Chris Godwin and Mike Evans on the roster and an emerging running back in Rachaad White,  the offense has the weapons to make Carr comfortable right away. In addition, they have an offensive line that will keep him upright.

Finally, playing in sunny south Florida will be good for Carr as he has never played the majority of games in cold environments. As strange as it sounds, for a player who has played indoors in Las Vegas and in California his whole career, it is likely to be important to him.
