Las Vegas Raiders 7-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Post-Super Bowl LVII edition

204. Myles Murphy DT North Carolina

Not to be confused with the other Myles Murphy out of Clemson who is on track to be a top 15 pick, this Myles Murphy out of North Carolina is a run-stuffing defensive tackle rather than a pass-rushing defensive end. We have already addressed the pass rusher need earlier in this draft and here we take the stout interior lineman with the 204th overall pick.

Murphy was a consensus 4-star recruit in North Carolina and became the face of the Tar Heel defense in his junior season. He plays with great power and quickness and is the type of player that can attract double teams and remain stout against the run. He has shown a little bit of pass-rushing ability with six sacks in 33 games but that is hardly his calling card.

The North Carolina native can play outside if needed but he has developed into an impressive three-down defensive tackle. His ideal position is as a 3-technique and is a guy that can come in and become a rotational defensive lineman right away.

There are some concerns about him being underdeveloped as a pass rusher but the Raiders can build on his impressive physical attributes to make him a more effective player in that regard. There are also concerns about his ability to read defenses and an inconsistent pad level but that is something the Raiders can correct with enough coaching.
