Las Vegas Raiders 7-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Post-Super Bowl LVII edition

7. Kelee Ringo CB Georgia

In our last mock draft, we had the Raiders grabbing quarterback Christian Gonzalez out of Oregon who some consider a one-season wonder. Gonzalez transferred to Oregon after a few years at Colorado and went from unknown player to star in one season with the ducks.

The player we select here is a two-year star at the best team in college football and that is cornerback Kelee Ringo out of Georgia. The Washington native has all of the physical attributes you look for in an elite corner as he measures in at 6-2 and 210 pounds. Just like Gonzalez, he has the blazing speed to keep up with any receiver in the NFL as he ran a 4.35 40 the last time it was recorded.

Ringo’s list of accomplishments is too long to mention but he is an athletic freak that made Bruce Feldman’s freak list and is an elite man coverage corner and a willing tackler. This is not to say that zone coverage is a weakness for him but he does prefer to get physical and beat up on receivers when he can.

That physicality is believed to be a potential weakness as the NFL is less forgiving than college football when it comes to defensive backs beating up on receivers. There are some other mental aspects of the game such as not reading the offense correctly or being a bit too confident in his physical abilities over his reading of the game.

The question the Raiders will have to answer is if his physical attributes and potential are good enough to overlook some of the mental aspects that will come with age and coaching. One thing that is clear, Ringo is ready for the physical aspect of the NFL and he can still contribute to this Raiders defense while he develops the mental side.
