4 Las Vegas Raiders players who could see an expanded role in 2023
Thayer Munford Jr., Offensive Tackle
Going back to the offensive side of the ball, you have to be a bit impressed with what the Las Vegas Raiders got from their seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Most years, the seventh-round pick ends up being a practice squad guy, or someone who is cut, but Thayer Munford Jr. actually played a role in Year 1 for the Silver and Black.
Munford played a rotational role with Jermaine Eluemunor at the right tackle spot, and while he took his lumps, which most rookie offensive linemen do, he has the size and ability to possibly be a real mainstay on this line for years to come. Munford played in over 350 offensive snaps as a rookie and allowed only one sack, which is great production coming from someone picked as late as he was.
Munford also had less than five penalties, and on an offensive line where right tackle has been an issue for years, maybe Ziegler and Josh McDaniels give him a chance to earn a starting role in Year 2. There is no doubt Las Vegas will look to revamp the offensive line this offseason, but Munford is someone to keep an eye on this summer.
