Las Vegas Raiders: Top-25 players of the Derek Carr Era
No. 11: Marcel Reece, FB (2008-2016)
The Raiders franchise saw something in Marcel Reece back in 2008, signing him after being cut by the Miami Dolphins, and desperately trying to find a role for him. Finally, in 2010, Reece’s journey to becoming an all-time Raiders fullback began, and from 2012 through the 2015 season, he became one of the best in the game at his position group.
With a young quarterback under center in 2014, the Raiders knew they needed to surround Derek Carr with quality players. Reece was already established by then, and in Carr’s first two seasons at the helm, he had the security blanket of having Reece with him in the backfield, a guy who made the Pro Bowl in both 2014 and 2015.
Reece was more than a fullback, as he was a locker room leader, played running back at times, and was a bruising blocker as well. Reece returned to the franchise back in 2020 in a front office role, and in 2022, was named Senior Vice President, Chief of Staff, but it was his work protecting a young Carr that lands him on our list.
