Las Vegas Raiders: Recent mocks drafts show no clear favorite at No. 7

Tashan Reed, The Athletic

For their recent mock draft, The Athletic (subscription required) gathered their NFL reporters for each team and had them make the draft pick. Tashan Reed represented the Raiders and decided to trade up from pick seven to five and select Florida’s Anthony Richardson.

"“The 6-foot-4, 232-pound quarterback has all the size you want along with a cannon for an arm capable of making every throw on the field and the speed, acceleration, and power to have a massive impact on the ground. He needs to improve his accuracy, processing ability, and overall fundamentals, but he’s not as much of a project as many think. He may not be ready to start right away, but the Raiders could re-sign Jarrett Stidham or bring in Jacoby Brissett as a stop-gap option to give themselves insurance for 2023.”"

Reed also explained that he does not think the Raiders will go big on a veteran quarterback, as that does not line up with Zeigler’s current view of where the roster is at.

This would be a massive swing for the Raiders to move up for a prospect like Richardson, but the upside is undeniable. For many, the decision between who is QB3 in this draft is up in the air between both Richardson, and Levis, who Jeremiah has him going to the Raiders instead of AR15.

Both men have tremendous physical gifts, and it will be interesting to see how the narrative moves when it comes to them as we continue through the draft process.
