Las Vegas Raiders: Recent mocks drafts show no clear favorite at No. 7

Daniel Kelly, The Ringer

The Ringer’s Daniel Kelly has been doing quality work on the draft for a few years now, and his draft guide is one of the more well-designed reports you’ll find. In his 2.2 updates, he does not go quarterback for the Raiders and instead has them addressing the secondary with Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez.

"“Only three teams gave up more passing yards than the Raiders did in 2022, and Las Vegas tied for dead last in interceptions (six). Gonzalez is a playmaker with high-end athleticism and sticky coverage skills. He will help from day one.”"

Kelly sees shades of Atlanta Falcon AJ Terrell in his comparisons for Gonzalez. The Raiders will have to improve the secondary in some way this offseason, and from all accounts, the draft seems to be deep with cornerback talent. Perhaps they can double-dip later on day 2 or 3, but a player like Gonzalez has all the tools to be a long-term starter for Las Vegas.

The truth is, cornerback has long been an issue with this franchise, but luckily for the Silver and Black, this draft class is loaded with talent at the position group. Gonzalez would be an excellent get for the Silver and Black at No. 7 overall, but he may be gone by then.
