Raiders 7-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: QB, 2024 first-round pick, and more

player. 874. . Edge. Red Raiders . Tyree Wilson. 11

As mentioned in the introductory slide, the Raiders start to trade down early in the draft and move down from 7th overall to 11th overall after agreeing to swap with the Tennessee Titans. In exchange for the 7th overall pick, the Raiders received Tennessee’s 11th pick, 149th pick, and a first-round pick in the 2024 period.

In this mock draft, the Titans used the 7th overall pick to grab quarterback Will Levis and the Raiders used the 11th overall pick on one of the best defensive players in the draft in Tyree Wilson out of Texas Tech.  The Raiders are in much need of an improved pass rush and a talented player to work into the rotation with Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones and they get just that in Wilson.

Wilson fits that bill as he has been an incredibly destructive player for the Red Raiders for the past two seasons. After starting his college career at Texas A&M, he transferred to Texas Tech in 2020 and was a bit part player in the COVID-impacted season. He came on strong in a major way in 2021 and recorded 38 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and seven sacks in 13 games.

2022 was by far his best season as in just 10 games he recorded 61 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and matched his sack total with seven in three fewer games.

Wilson has all the physical attributes as well as he measures in at 6-6 and 275 pounds and looks to be an elite athlete at his size. The Raiders will need a top-tier pass rush if they want to compete in the AFC West and drafting Wilson is a great way to improve that unit.
