Why the Las Vegas Raiders need to trade for CB Jalen Ramsey
By Jason Willis
Another off-season and another big name available on the trade market. This time, it’s Jalen Ramsey who the Raiders should target.
After seven seasons in the NFL, Jalen Ramsey has established himself as perhaps the game’s premier defensive back. A top-five selection of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2016 NFL Draft, Ramsey immediately turned into an impact player.
With an All-Pro selection in his second season, he was firmly entrenched as the league’s best corner.
Following two more Pro Bowl seasons with the Jaguars, the Los Angeles Rams traded two first-round picks and a fourth for him. In LA, all he did was earn two consecutive All-Pro selections and three straight Pro Bowl nods.
In addition, he helped the team win the Super Bowl in 2021. With a sterling 86.4 PFF grade, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles last season, he is as impactful as ever.
An elite player who plays one of the most important positions on the field, he is only available due to the Rams’ current rebuilding process. With a need to shed salary, Ramsey, who is the second-highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, could be the odd man out.
