The Las Vegas Raiders 2023 offseason is in full swing, and a lot of the news is surrounding Derek Carr and the vacant quarterback position.

The Las Vegas Raiders

Is Raiders QB Derek Carr worth $35M-plus?

The free agency tour for Derek Carr continues as we enter March, and he has already met with a few teams, but what is he looking for in terms of an offer? Dianna Russini from ESPN, who is a very reliable source when it comes to all things NFL, tweeted out that Carr is looking for $35 million-plus in his new deal in free agency.

Is Carr really worth that after making the playoffs only twice in nine seasons? For some teams, the QB-needy New York Jets, that may be a deal they want to get done, but Carr may need to wait and see what Aaron Rodgers does before he commits to anything.

Raiders backup QB Jarrett Stidham coming back?

According to Keith Ricci, who is the fan relations manager for the Boston Bruins, as well as a monthly writer for JBB, Stidham and the Raiders are talking nearly daily. There is a real need for Josh McDaniels to bring him back in 2023, as he knows the offense, and with the quarterback spot up in the air, could be a legitimate option if everything else falls through.

Stidham did a nice job in relief of Derek Carr late in the 2022 NFL season and has the trust of the head coach. If Las Vegas brings in a stopgap quarterback in 2023, or even drafts one, he will be counted on in a big way.

What about Ramsey?

For years, the Las Vegas Raiders have struggled at the cornerback position, but could some significant help be on the way. We have already discussed how the cornerback spot is one of the deeper positions in the 2023 NFL Draft, but an elite current NFL player could be available via a trade this offseason as well.

That player is Jalen Ramsey, a former All-Pro who has spent the last three-plus seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, winning a Super Bowl. He would give the Raiders another playmaker on the defensive side of the ball, and as our Jason Willis states, would be a perfect fit for the Silver and Black.
