15 worst free agent signings in Las Vegas Raiders history

No. 5: LaMont Jordan, Running Back (5yr-$27.5M)

LaMont Jordan was a second-round pick of the 2001 NFL Draft by the New York Jets and spent the first four seasons of his career as a backup to Hall of Famer, Curtis Martin. However, when the Raiders came knocking with a free agent contract paying him over $5 million a season to be the starter, he quickly bolted to the west coast for that opportunity.

With the Raiders, Jordan found immediate success, rushing for over 1,000 yards in his first season as a starter. Unfortunately for him and the Raiders, that was the last time he would eclipse the 1,000-yard mark in a season, as injuries would derail the rest of his time in Oakland, and pave the way for Justin Fargas to claim the starting job.

In July of 2009, Jordan would end up being released, and while he latched on with New England and Denver to close out his career, his first season in Oakland proved to be the pinnacle of his time in the NFL. If Jordan had not suffered so many injuries, his tenure with the Raiders would be seen much differently, but due to that, he never reached his full potential as a full-time starter for the Silver and Black.
