15 worst free agent signings in Las Vegas Raiders history

No. 12: Tyrell Williams, Wide Receiver (4yr-$44M)

During the 2019 offseason, Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock went a bit wild in free agency, bringing in some veteran talent that they hoped would get the franchise over the hump and back into the playoffs. However, most of those signings ended up being terrible ones, including the deal the team made with wide receiver Tyrell Williams.

Playing for division rival Chargers, Williams built himself up a solid reputation as a reliable pass-catcher, this after coming to the NFL as an undrafted free agent. Williams was known for his big-play ability, and that was clear early on with the Raiders, as he hauled in a touchdown pass in his first four games before going down with an injury.

Williams would return in that 2019 season and put together a campaign that saw him score six times and haul in 42 catches for over 650 yards, but that was all he would produce in his Raiders career. Unfortainetly for he and the Raiders, a torn labrum would end his 2020 season before it could get started, and after playing in only 12 games for the franchise, Williams was released.
