15 worst free agent signings in Las Vegas Raiders history
No. 1: Javon Walker, Wide Receiver (6yr-$55M)
When putting a list together of the worst free agent signings in Raiders history, the No. 1 spot has to go to wide receiver Javon Walker. In fact, when people put together lists of the worst free agent signings in NFL history, the deal the Silver and Black made for Walker ranks right up there as one of the worst ever.
Walker was released by the Denver Broncos after the 2008 NFL season, and division rival Oakland was quick to pounce. He would go on to sign a massive six-year deal with the Silver and Black, a deal that included $16 million in guaranteed money, but his production did not match the money, and all told, he collected $21 million for his 15 catches.
The deal for Walker remains the worst in team history.
Hopefully, the Raiders franchise can have a bit more success in free agency this offseason, as they have issues on both sides of the ball they need to fix. History has not been kind to this franchise in free agency, and if they are to finally get back to being a power in the AFC, they need Ziegler to push the right buttons this offseason.
