With Derek Carr playing elsewhere in 2023, the Raiders’ future at quarterback is unsettled. If the team needs a veteran to keep the seat warm for a rookie, these players make sense.

For the first time in nine seasons, the Las Vegas Raiders will be searching for a new starting quarterback. The franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns, Derek Carr has been shown the door by head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler. A massive inflection point for the franchise, the team’s choice at the position will define the next decade.

Of course, the team could look to make a huge swing at the position. With both Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson expected to be available this off-season, could the team attempt to thrust themselves into title contention immediately? Adding a superstar of that caliber could certainly do the trick.

Another possibility is using the seventh overall pick on a quarterback. With a loaded draft class on the horizon, it is likely that one of the top four passers will be available to the Raiders. In the event they do elect to take a rookie, the team may want to let him sit for a year and let him learn the ropes of McDaniels’ offense.

If this is the case, the team will need a veteran to run the offense. Whether it is for an entire season, or for just a few games, these three players make the most sense to e under center for Las Vegas in 2023.
