Las Vegas Raiders: Top-3 stopgap options at QB for 2023

Jarrett Stidham

The most likely potential option is also perhaps the most obvious. After taking over for Carr near the end of the 2023 season, Stidham started the final two games of the season for the Silver and Black.

Across three appearances, Stidham recorded 656 passing yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions. Hardly earth-shattering numbers, but he showed an endearing ability to make plays both down the field and with his legs. After the overall timid nature of Carr, it was a breath of fresh air to see these out-of-structure plays.

Despite going 0-2 as a starter, Stidham left an overall positive impression on the fans and his teammates. Slated to be a free agent this off-season, a return to the Raiders seems to make sense for both parties. Unlikely to cost a large amount of money, he can be a cheap bridge to a rookie while also providing the team with quality quarterback play.

Furthermore, his experience in the McDaniels offense dates back to 2019 when he was drafted in the fourth round by New England. By all accounts, Stidham is a great teammate who can teach the offense to a rookie. Other than Tom Brady, there may not be a player better suited for this in the NFL.
