The Las Vegas Raiders offseason will hit full speed this week, as the NFL Scouting Combine kicks off from Indianapolis with Derek Carr in attendance.

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine kicks off from Indianapolis this week, and for David Ziegler and the Las Vegas Raiders, there is no bigger week of draft season. Las Vegas holds the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, a slot that could see them trade up or down, especially if they fall in love with a certain prospect this week in Indy.

Teams are going to be able to not only see the players on the field but also sit down and talk with them, getting a feel for how they are both a player and a person. This is a significant week for the 2023 NFL Draft class, as it usually makes or breaks their draft status going into April, so keep your eyes on who makes a big impact this week during the workouts.

For the Raiders, not only will they be there to evaluate the players, but their former franchise quarterback will also be in Indy on business as well.

Former Raiders QB Derek Carr heads to Indy

On Valentine’s Day, the Raiders franchise released quarterback Derek Carr, their nine-year veteran starting signal-caller. Carr set numerous records in the Silver and Black, but it did not come with much winning, as he made only one postseason start.

Now, Carr is in a search to figure out where he will continue his NFL career and will descend on Indianapolis to talk with multiple teams about possibly starting for their franchise in 2023 and beyond. He has had some interest, meeting with the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets, but this week will give him an opportunity to truly test the waters, and see where he may fit best.

Could the Raiders trade up for No. 1 overall?

The Chicago Bears hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and recently, rumors have been circulating that they plan to trade the pick away. The thought is that the current quarterback, Justin Fields, is a franchise guy, and they could use this incredible draft capital to stack players and picks, helping revamp one of the worst rosters in the NFL from a season ago.

In a recent tweet by BetOnline.ag, the betting outfit has the Silver and Black with the third-highest odds to trade up and get the No. 1 overall pick from the Chicago Bears.

It would take some trade package for the Raiders to pull off this deal, and they should really only do it if they really fall in love with one of the top quarterbacks in this draft class. In my opinion, Las Vegas should not give away so many assets to move up to No. 1, as they have more than one hole on this roster heading into draft season.
