Las Vegas Raiders 2023 7-round NFL Mock Draft: Combine Week edition

97. Owen Pappoe LB Auburn – Pick 70 for 97 and 109 with WFT

The Raiders head back to the defensive side of the ball with one of the stars so far of the NFL Combine in linebacker Owen Pappoe out of Auburn. The Raiders were originally slated to pick 70th overall but in this mock draft, they traded back with the Washington Commanders for the 97th and 109th overall picks.

Pappoe is a slightly undersized linebacker at 6-0 and 225 pounds but he runs like the wind and showed that off at the combine earlier this week. Pappoe ran a blazing 4.39 40 which is in the 99th percentile for his position and is looking like one of the better prospects in the draft.

We can imagine that next week’s mock will have him in the first or second round rather than the third, but we grab him here while he is available.

The former Auburn linebacker is a natural leader who has a great feel for the game and his elite athleticism makes him a potential playmaker at the NFL level. He is being compared to former Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith who has been lighting up the NFL and transformed the Ravens’ defense into an elite unit in 2022.

The Raiders may be moving on from Denzel Perryman this offseason so they will not be able to pass up the opportunity to draft a player like Pappoe at this point in the draft. His stock has been rising dramatically since the combine and a team may even use a first-round pick on him if he continues to impress.
