Las Vegas Raiders 2023 7-round NFL Mock Draft: Combine Week edition

146. Roschon Johnson RB Texas

The Raiders are reportedly planning to place the franchise tag on Josh Jacobs but even if they do they will need to add some depth to the running back position with the loss of Ameer Abdullah and potentially Brandon Bolden as well. Adding Roschon Johnson out of Texas gives the position group so much-needed explosiveness and speed.

Johnson is a bigger back at 6-0 and 225lbs but may end up being one of the faster backs in this class as his last 40 time was recorded at 4.39 seconds. He can provide the Raiders with an intriguing option in the screen game and he has shown enough as a pass catcher to be utilized in the passing game as well.

The Texas native was overshadowed by superstar Bijan Robinson but he averaged six yards per carry the last two seasons and was a home run threat for the Longhorns. He can even return punts and kicks to take some of that load off Hunter Renfrow and make himself a valued member of the team.

One of these teams is going to take a swing on Johnson as their lead back and he has shown the ability to do that so why not have the Raiders be the ones to capitalize on his explosive ability. Fans don’t usually like when teams use high picks on running backs so we grab a potential star talent with a late-round pick with this exciting kid out of Texas.
