Las Vegas Raiders 2023 7-round NFL Mock Draft: Combine Week edition

111. PJ Mustipher DT Penn State – Pick 109 for 111 and 190 with CLE

In this mock draft, the Raiders trade back once again from the 109th overall pick with the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the 111th and 190th overall picks. We use this selection to grab another defensive tackle in PJ Mustipher out of Penn State and continue to build up that defensive line.

The scouts are split on Mustipher as an NFL prospect and he has not been doing himself any favors with his Combine numbers this week. The former Nittany Lion ran a 5.41 40-yard dash and his shuttle time is in the bottom 2% at his position. While none of these numbers are ideal, Mustipher is an incredibly strong big body defensive tackle who can form a great tandem with Jalen Carter.

Mustipher would be the ideal run stuffer next to Carter’s pass rush ability and at 6-3 and nearly 330 pounds, he has the physical attributes to soak up double teams and causes mayhem on the interior. He is not a guy that’s going to record a ton of stats but his presence in the interior will free up Carter and the before-mentioned Crosby and Jones.

The athletic numbers are a bit shocking and he will have to improve on them at the Penn State Pro Day but his size and strength will help him find an ideal role on a defense. He may slide even further than expected but as we’ve seen many times in the past, Combine numbers both good and bad don’t determine a player’s future.
