Las Vegas Raiders Free Agency: The single best and worst signing since 2018

The Worst: Lamarcus Joyner, 2019, (4yr-$42M)

We could have gone a number of ways with this choice, as some of the moves Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden made in free agency are downright laughable. We could have picked the aforementioned Williams, but instead, we will turn to the defensive side of the ball and pick safety, Lamarcus Joyner.

Coming to the Raiders with a reputation of being a playmaker for the Rams franchise, Joyner was not only bad in the Silver and Black, but he was terrible. He looked nothing like the player who played for Sean McVay, and instead, was a liability in the defensive backfield, consistently being beat and looking lost in coverage.

Joyner would go on to make only 16 starts with the Raiders, and eventually was released after only two seasons with the team. All told, he had zero forced fumbles, interceptions, or fumble recoveries, while defending only eight passes.

Hopefully, the 2023 free agency season brings more signings like Agholor and Hollins, and less like the job Mayock and Gruden did back in 2019 and 2020. Las Vegas won six games last season despite a fairly talented roster, but with so much money to throw around this offseason, we can expect a lot of new faces wearing the Silver and Black in 2023.
