Raiders 7-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Post-Scouting Combine Edition

7. Anthony Richardson QB Florida

Every few years there comes along an NFL prospect that completely takes over Indianapolis and becomes the talk of the NFL combine. Some guys like Darrius Heyward-Bey or John Ross have forgettable NFL careers while others like Vernon Davis, Trent Williams, and Saquon Barkley go on to become one of the best players in the league at their positions.

Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson was the talk of the 2023 NFL combine as he, as we mentioned earlier, tested out as one of the most athletic quarterbacks in league history. Measuring in at 6-4 and 244 lbs, Richardson ran a 4.3 second 40, leaped 40.5 inches in the vertical, and 129 in the broad jump.

Those numbers are in the 99th or 100th percentile for a quarterback and he also put on a show with some of the throws he was making in the passing drills.

This performance has vaulted Richardson into the conversation for the first overall pick and there are some who believe he could be taken ahead of CJ Stroud and Bryce Young. In this mock draft, he’s still available at 7th overall and the Raiders almost have no choice but to draft this young man and see what he can become.

Richardson will take some coaching and development so we don’t expect him to start on day one but the upside that he brings to the table is incredible. This pick would energize and excite Raider Nation in a way we haven’t seen since they drafted Charles Woodson in the late 1990s.
