The Pete Carroll era for the Las Vegas Raiders was short-lived for a reason. Several glaring issues popped up in his one year at the helm, but the most concerning was his refusal to play the team's young core in what was clearly a lost season. Instead, he played aging and unsuccessful veterans.
That decision hasn't exactly aged well, as almost none of the Raiders' free agents were a commodity this offseason. Several got signed as injuries panned out in training camps, but almost none of them are on active rosters as Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season approaches.
So, while fans may have already forgotten about these players from last year's team, they are still free agents on the open market looking for a home. But unfortunately, they seem more likely at this point to be facing their NFL mortality soon.

Alex Cappa, IOL
Cappa was the first sizeable external addition of the John Spytek era, and it instantly rubbed fans the wrong way. His arrival was met with hostility, as he challenged Jackson Powers-Johnson for a starting role, even though it was obvious who the more talented player was, and who had more upside.
Following an underwhelming season in which he actually got to play a fair amount, Cappa hasn't been on any teams' radar this offseason. At 31 years old and clearly not at the peak of his powers anymore, Cappa's life as a professional football player could be done if no team bites in the coming weeks.
Raheem Mostert, RB
It would be a shame if Mostert's career were done, as the older player showed that he still had speed last season. He's not your typical 34-year-old running back, as Mostert had an interesting path in the NFL and doesn't have a lot of tread on the tires. He could probably still play a role somewhere.
But nobody gave him a chance this offseason, and unless a team gets desperate and starts sniffing around for veteran running back help, then Mostert may have to call it quits. He is the most likely player on this list to find a home, but Mostert hasn't drawn any interest since not being re-signed.
Tyler Lockett, WR
Honestly, if not for Carroll, Lockett's career may have been done last year when he asked to be released by the Tennessee Titans. But for some reason, the Raiders' head coach threw him a lifeline, and he was able to finish the 2025 NFL season on a roster, albeit with not much production.
Lockett hasn't even been brought in for a workout with a team this offseason, though, so the writing may be on the wall for him. He had a tremendous career, but Lockett will have a hard time finding a team in 2026. And at nearly 34 years old, there is no shame in hanging up the cleats at this point.
