For the second time this draft season, the Raiders make a move for a cornerback with one of their two seventh-round picks. Tom Telesco has not had great success picking after the first round in his career as a general manager, but this is a solid selection on Day 3.
The Raiders cornerback room, with the arrival of Sainristril is better, but Kalen King could put them over the top. Once considered one of the best cornerback prospects in college football, King had an up-and-down career in Happy Valley, but he gets a fresh start with the Raiders, and could play big minutes as a rookie.
Playing in the AFC West, teams needs to not only be able to get after the quarterback, but also strong enough in the secondary to make plays. A cornerback room with Jones, Hobbs, Sainristril, Bennett, and King is much better than the team had last season, and could lead to the Raiders defense being strong on all three levels.
