2. Raiders won't add a Day 1 starter in the 2024 NFL Draft

Looking ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft, there is a great chance that the Raiders could add a quarterback across the three-day event. However, sitting at No. 13 overall in the first round, and with many QB-needy teams ahead of them, pushing ahead of those teams could prove not only costly, but incredibly hard for Tom Telesco.

In a perfect world, the Raiders would be in place to select one of the top-4 quarterbacks in this year's draft class, a group that includes Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and JJ McCarthy. Unfortunately, with how the mocks are shaping up heading into April, all four of those guys could be gone by pick No. 6, making it a longshot for the Raiders to land one of them.

A Day 2 pick will likely bring another quarterback into the mix, whether it is Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr., or even Spencer Rattler. For the Raiders, O'Connell is a better option than all three of those quarterbacks, and with so many starts under his belt as a rookie, the second-year quarterback should be well-prepared heading into his second training camp.
