Raiders turn to O'Connell
When McDaniels was fired near mid-season, O’Connell was made the full-time starter despite being a day-three draft pick. There were many ups and downs in his rookie season including a win over the Chargers where they scored a franchise-record 63 points and a 3-0 loss at home to the Vikings.
Overall, “AOC '' looks the part of a long-term NFL backup due to his limited arm talent which led the Raiders to bring in the veteran Gardner Minshew in the off-season. While he is likely better than the incumbent O’Connell, his ceiling is also quite limited.
As mentioned, it would be a surprise if Las Vegas left the upcoming draft without a quarterback but in case of emergency, could an unlikely Hall of Famer make a return to the field?
