The Las Vegas Raiders have jumped out to a 2-0 start to the 2026 NFL season. This is obviously a much better beginning than most fans expected in year 1 of the Klint Kubiak era, but this Silver and Black team has fully bought into their new coach's philosophy and approach.
Going into the campaign, questions arose about who would step up in the receiver room. Tre Tucker is Las Vegas' top receiver, as he played well in Week 2 and is constantly improving. But the rumors around Arizona Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. are still quite interesting.
ESPN's Dan Graziano reported that rumors have begun circulating about whether Arizona is open to moving him.
"Execs around the league are wondering whether the Arizona Cardinals could explore trading 2024 No. 4 pick Marvin Harrison Jr. ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline," Graziano wrote. "They have a new coaching staff and a new offense. Harrison is extension-eligible after this season, and as of now, the Cardinals would have a hard time paying him based on what he's shown in the league so far. It's worth watching out for a potential change-of-scenery deal in this case."
Depending on how the next couple of weeks go, Las Vegas' front office could be intrigued by the potential availability of Harrison Jr.
Raiders may have reason to monitor Marvin Harrison Jr. trade rumors
The trade deadline is Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. ET, which means that the next seven games will decide if the Raiders will be buyers, sellers, or standing pat. If they remain a team that is competitive and has a shot at making the playoffs, the idea of trading for Harrison Jr. could be on the table.
It hasn't been a great start to the year for the Ohio State product, as in Week 1, he finished with just one catch for 33 yards. Harrison Jr. followed that outing up by being held without a catch on one target in 31 routes run in Week 2.
There have also been some clips circulating online questioning Harrison Jr.'s effort against Seattle last week. If there are any questions about his football character, then Kubiak and the Raiders will steer clear, as they value hard workers who love the game.
This comes after last year, when Harrison Jr. struggled with drops and failed to be consistently involved in the game plan. Through 31 games with the Cardinals, he has caught just 104 passes for 1,526 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
That isn't the kind of production you'd want from Harrison Jr., with him being the fourth overall pick a few years ago. Coming into the league, Harrison Jr. was deemed a can't-miss product at receiver. His strengths were his route running, strong hands, and speed that can still take the top off a defense.
Even though things haven't gone according to plan, those traits have flashed at times. Harrison Jr. is still just 24, listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds. The Raiders have the money and draft capital to just improve their pass-catching corps next offseason via free agency and the NFL Draft, though.
That could be the route that they take with this group, as the 2027 draft and free agency classes are loaded with talented wide recievers. But if they have a chance to fight for a playoff spot and Harrison Jr. starts to play better, they could seek a trade and add him as somewhat of a missing piece.
It likely wouldn't cost too much to trade for Harrison Jr., and his raw talent is evident. Kubiak may want to take a flier on him to bolster the passing attack, while also potentially giving this team another playmaker that could develop into a long-term piece.
Sometimes players just need a change of scenery to get the best of themselves. That seems to be the case with Harrison Jr., and based on how the next couple of weeks shake out, Harrison Jr. may become a trade option for Las Vegas.
Having an offense that could feature Brock Bowers, Ashton Jeanty, Fernando Mendoza, and Harrison Jr. as offensive pieces they can build around would give this team real excitement for the future.
