The Las Vegas Raiders suffered yet another close loss last Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. They have now lost three in a row, dropping to 3-3 during the 2026 NFL season, and they face an injured but still very tough Los Angeles Rams team in Week 7.
Even in the loss to Buffalo, though, there were some bright spots for the Silver and Black. One of them was, once again, the play of Tre Tucker, who is now on pace for 1,000 yards this season and keeps showing that he is worthy of a new contract with the organization.
He finished the game against the Bills with 97 receiving yards on five catches, and he added two big touchdowns. Tucker won his one-on-one opportunities all game, and he is showing that he can be the outside threat that the Raiders need. Let's watch the film so you can see what I mean.
Raiders' Tre Tucker is winning in a variety of ways and looks like a WR1
Tucker is known as a speedster, but he's showing he can be an all-around receiver. His route tree has developed since he joined the NFL, and he's becoming a player that Kirk Cousins can trust. Cousins spoke about his newfound trust in Tucker after Sunday's game during his press conference.
“The second one, he just can roll. I played with DeSean Jackson, I play[ed] with Aldrick Robinson, so I played with 4.2 guys; [Tucker] can roll. And I came off the field, I said, 'I think he's faster than I realize he is.' And there's times where I just need to launch, and he'll go get it. So, he showed me that again today, and big time, the way he finished it to go for it and hold on just starts to build trust and respect when a guy goes and makes a play like that."
On the first touchdown, Tucker ran a great route. He ran a speed out to Cousins' right. He does a good job of selling the go route and then turning it towards the pylon. Cousins drops a dime over the linebacker, leading to a touchdown for the Raiders and a tied game.
The last touchdown of the game was just Tucker displaying his ability to win deep. He is one of the best post route-runners in the league, and you can see why in the play below. He outruns and splits two defenders, and Cousins throws it as far as he can, and Tucker makes a beautiful diving catch.
Tucker might be the next player to get re-signed by John Spytek if he can continue at this pace. The coaching staff loves him and has high expectations for his game. Hopefully, this level of play continues, and the Raiders have a player who can contribute at wide receiver on the outside.
