At long last, the Las Vegas Raiders will have somewhat of a reprieve during this nightmarish stretch of the 2026 NFL season. Their Week 8 opponent is the 2-5 New York Jets, and while they will be far from an easy team to beat, especially on the road, this is the weakest foe they'll play in a two-month span.

And Klint Kubiak's team badly needs a get-right game, as they've lost four in a row heading into this contest. At one point, the playoffs felt within reach, and now the Raiders are on the outside looking in, which could matter quite a bit in terms of John Spytek's decision-making at the trade deadline.

As far as Sunday's contest is concerned, there is no shortage of big injuries to keep track of for both teams, storylines to monitor and experts weighing in with their opinions on who will emerge victorious. Check all of that and more below.

The only change here from Friday's final injury report is that Patrick Johnson has been removed because he was placed on IR, and Jack Bech has been activated and had his questionable designation eliminated. He will play on Sunday in Week 8 for the first time since Week 3.

Other than that, Jackson Powers-Johnson is the only unknown for Las Vegas. Several key players were dealing with an injury this week for the Raiders, but it seems like the entire starting lineup should be available. Oh, and Dont'e Thornton Jr. is back from a hamstring injury that kept him out Weeks 1-7.

Sweat is a major loss for the Jets, as he is by far their best run defender. David Bailey being out would also be a huge advantage for the Raiders, as the rookie is leading New York in sacks. The Jets may also get Hall and/or Parham back, both of whom have been out since Week 3. That'd help a great deal.

Biggest Raiders storylines heading into Week 8

Can Ashton Jeanty back up his talk?

Jeanty had no qualms about bagging on the Jets' run defense and saying that they had several players who did not want to tackle. And when looking at the film, it became apparent that he was right. But can the Raiders actually get the run game going with Jeanty at the center of it?

New York's front is battered and bruised, and it wasn't that great at stopping the run anyway. However, Las Vegas just can't seem to establish any kind of rhythm on the ground. This will be a major storyline, as the Raiders can control this one if Jeanty's words end up being prophetic.

How will Geno Smith's revenge game against the Raiders go?

Smith obviously has a bone to pick with the Silver and Black. And there is no love lost between him and the organization or the fanbase. If this game were played in Oakland - yes, Oakland - and not New York, it would be pretty brutal for Smith. It still may be.

He hasn't been the biggest problem for the Jets' offense this year, but Smith is not exactly helping, as he has swung the pendulum too far the other way now and won't take chances. And he keeps taking sacks. If the Raiders can get home and force him into bad decisions, they can run away with this one.

Return of two young WRs for Las Vegas

This week, the Raiders have welcomed Dont'e Thornton Jr. and Jack Bech back to the active roster. The former will be making his season debut, and the latter will be playing for the first time since Week 3. And there should be plenty of opportunity for these two players to make an impact if they're active.

Outside of Tre Tucker, Las Vegas hasn't exactly gotten much production from the wide receiver room. Any kind of boost from Bech or Thornton Jr. would be welcome for this offense, and it'd also help fans feel better about Spytek's drafting ability, as neither of these two starring has been held against him.
