SAFETY

The Raiders didn’t do much at the safety position this year. They resigned Charles Woodson, Usama Young and Brandian Ross. They drafted Jonathan Dowling in the 7th round of the 2014 draft. Tyvon Branch is back after breaking his leg in the home opener last year. Shelton Johnson rounds out the depth chart at Safety. It’s essentially the same roster they had last year at this position. I like Woodson and Young, I think they can play in the league at a high level. Branch has been a disappointment ever since Reggie signed him to a big contract before the 2012 season. Brandian Ross rated out on PFF.com as the worst safety in games he played, I don’t know why he was resigned. The safety position is another one I don’t think Reggie did enough to upgrade the team. This is again at the mercy of injuries, like last year. While I think Usama can take over for Woodson and even though Branch has been mediocre after he got hurt last year, his backups were worse. I’ll have my fingers crossed, hoping for no injuries to this group and that Branch earns his 7 million this year.
