Jerry Jones comments on Raiders talks with San Antonio

Everyone who follows the National Football League knows that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones enjoys his big piece of the pie in the state of Texas, after all the Cowboys are first the team of Texas in addition to being “America’s Team.” So it is no surprise that Jones was asked about Raiders owner Mark Davis’ meeting with San Antonio city officials on Tuesday night. It was also less of a surprise that Jones isn’t really fond of the idea.
Speaking to Charean Williams, Jones made several displeased comments surrounding the possibility of an NFL franchise moving to San Antonio and taking a piece out of his rather large market in one of the most football crazy states in Texas. Jones also added that he is not very concerned about the talks, potentially because he feels that he can help block any potential relocation to a market that assuredly has a strong number of Cowboys fans that Jones wants to keep cheering for his franchise and not a new San Antonio based team.

Let's be serious. I can't imagine a scenario where Jerry Jones would allow Mark Davis to move the Raiders to San Antonio.

Jones has a lot of power amongst NFL owners, after all you need to take just a quick glance at the Cowboys stadium to know that when Jerry Jones wants something that Jerry Jones gets just that. That doesn’t mean that a move to San Antonio wouldn’t be possible, but it makes it pretty unlikely that anybody will be taking any money and power out of Jones’ hands as long as he is the owner of the Cowboys. That is an unfortunate situation for those in San Antonio who want their own team like their Texas neighbors Houston do with the Texans, but as long as Jones feels that San Antonio is “Cowboys’ Country” the city of San Antonio should remain without a NFL franchise.
