The Raiders are thickly stacked at the running back with Maurice Jones-Drew, Darren McFadden, Latavius Murray and Kory Sheets. So that means George Atkinson III is out and as much as he’s ballin’,Sheets needs to try to return kicks himself. The Raiders have shown that they will be great in the running game both in the preseason opener and in the joint practices.

The one thing that’s questionable is that they have Jones-Drew starting over a healthy, more explosive McFadden. Going into camp the coaching staff said it would be an open competition and if that’s the case, McFadden is winning. He had an explosive run in the preseason game and in the joint practice while Jones-Drew has yet to pop one off.

For those of you that think McFadden gets hurt to much, I won’t argue but I’m not the one who said they’re competing. If injury is the problem they have with McFadden, just say they want to use McFadden less to save him. But if this is a real competition, McFadden is winning and should be getting the majority of the reps with the ones.

But either way, the running game is great.
