Bill Musgrave

Del Rio likes to play smash-mouth football and both sides of the ball so he brought in Bill Musgrave. Musgrave was with him before in Jacksonville and likes to play the same brand of football. Musgrave was also the offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings when Adrian Peterson rushed for over 2,000 yards.

His offense is similar to the run-heavy West Coast Offense Jon Gruden ran when he coached. Musgrave was once Chip Kelly’s quarterback coach so he added some spread offense wrinkles too. And even thought Musgrave isn’t showing his whole playbook yet, you could see some of everything Friday.

The first-team offense took the ball took the ball right down the field into scoring position on both drives. And Musgrave kept the Rams guessing with an extremely balanced attack in the game. It’s going to be interesting to see how Musgrave walks the thin line between creativity and effectiveness.
