PFF Stats Breakdown

Donald Penn: Penn received a +4.9 grade this week to be the second Raiders offensive lineman in as many weeks to top the team in rating.  Last week Gabe Jackson took home the honors, and his left side cohort did it this week. Penn’s grade of +4.9 made him, not only the highest graded offensive lineman, but the 5th highest offensive player in the league.

Penn’s +3.9 in Run Blocking is a big part of his grade. Latavius Murray took 7 rushing attempts through a gap that Penn would be responsible for opening and averaged 6.6 yards per carry.

Gabe Jackson: I’m starting to see a trend here. The Oakland Raiders are showing signs of a dominant offensive line. For the second straight week, second-year guard Gabe Jackson has been graded as the best OG in the NFL.

A very balanced day for the big man, +1.5 in pass block, and +1.9 in run block helped him to a +3.6 overall grade.  Jackson did his part to keep Derek Carr clean by not allowing a single QB hurry, hit or sack.

Austin Howard: Yet another one of Derek Carr’s bodyguards makes the list. Howard led the team, and was the second highest rated right tackle in pass protection with a pass blocking grade of +2.2 and an overall of 2.4. With such a positive grade in pass blocking it is a given that Howard also gave up zero hits, hurries or sacks of his QB.

Derek Carr: Derek missed the list last week due to a late game interception, but this week he played it clean and picked up a +1.4 overall grade. Carr threw for 300+ yards for the second straight week, two TD’s an NFL QB Rating of 115.9.

He is showing he can be the elite level player the Raider Nation has been waiting to have for so long, a few mistakes that should clean up with time and Derek should be seeing even higher grades as the season goes on.
