Oakland Raiders: Week 3 Grades

Run Game: B+

Despite his success overall, Latavius Murray was relatively ineffective during the beginning of the game on Sunday. He gained only a yard on seven carries. Eventually, Murray got it going. He busted a long run in the second half that helped the Raiders gain momentum. Taiwan Jones, Marcel Reece, and Roy Helu all saw some touches. The unit gets a B+ for sticking to the run game despite a lack of success early on.

Pass Game: B+

Derek Carr looked good again this week. He and Amari Cooper established several connections early. The team mixed up deep and short passes that kept the defense honest.he balanced passing attack remained a threat over the entire game. In order to get an A, Carr needs to clean up some of his ball placement. He missed open receivers, but atleast he did not take a sack over the entire game.

Receivers: A

Rookie Seth Roberts caught another beautiful touchdown pass from Carr, late in the second quarter. On that same drive, Roberts caught a deep pass that put the Raiders in scoring position. Andre Holmes was also in the gameplan. Carr also tried to get Michael Crabtree involved in the gameplan too. Cooper continues showing yards after the catch ability. He finished the games with another 100 yard receiving game, and he showed the game changing ability the Raiders needed.

Offensive Line: B

The offensive line got bodied by Cleveland early. The offensive line generated no push for Murray in the first quarter. However, kudos to them for sticking with the running game, they eventually helped Murray get loose. Plus, they did not give up a sack on Carr. As a whole, they picked up the blitz well.

Defensive Line: A

The defensive looked leaps and bounds better on Sunday. Khalil Mack got his first two sacks of the season. As a unit, they gave up less than 40 rushing yards to The Browns. They even stuffed the Browns in the redzone on a third and goal attempt before the end of the second half,

Linebackers: B+

Ray Ray Armstrong registered the teams first sack of the year and it was this week versus the Browns. Malcolm Smith also made some big tackles in the passing game. This unit helped the Raiders stay fresh by getting off the field on third downs.

Secondary: B

Charles Woodson sealed the game with his 61st interception, and it was a beauty. He caught the pass on the sideline and got both feet down like it was intended for him. As a whole, the secondary played better this week. They still took their lumps, allowing more than 300 yards passing. However, they remained resilient once again. They actually covered receivers long enough for their front sevens to make a play.
