Raiders NFL Draft: A Safety Option For Every Round
Marcus Williams – Utah
Marcus Maye and Josh Jones would also be second round options, but I’d lean towards Marcus Williams if given the choice of the three.
At 6’1″ 202 pounds, he has ideal height but a slim build he’ll need to fill out. He’s a great athlete across the board with a well-rounded game on the field.
Williams is smooth in his backpedal, has fluid hips and legit ball skills. Per NFL.com, he picked off 10 passes on just 44 targets, which is a ridiculous rate. His instincts are absolutely one his best traits, and it’s evident in every game he plays.

Williams’ ability to play single high is exactly what the defense needs. His ball skills would add to an already turnover prone defense, and his upside is among the best of any prospect that is likely to be available in the second round.
He’s a decent tackler, but not great. This is the area he’ll need to improve the most, particularly in the open field. But that is where Joseph excels, and the two would make a great tandem.
