Raiders NFL Draft: A Safety Option For Every Round
Justin Evans – Texas A&M
Standing at 6’0″ and 199 pounds, Evans is on the light side for a safety, but has a frame that can comfortably add the needed weight. He didn’t test at the combine, but on film, it’s easy to see how good of an athlete he is.
On the field, Evans has an aggressive play style and is physical in coverage. Comparisons to Karl Joseph have been made, and they aren’t too far off. He can deliver the boom and isn’t afraid to get dirty, but the downside of his play style is missed tackles.
Evans has the versatility to play both spots, due to his range and ball skills. If selected by the Raiders, he could play free safety, which would allow Joseph to stay in the box.
