2. Amari Cooper wills it in for six on eight-yard reception

If any play defined the game for the Raiders, it was this never-say-die eight-yard touchdown pass from Carr to Cooper. The AC/DC connection was strong on that first drive for the Raiders. Cooper would have a six-yard grab on the first play of that series, but this was the one that gave Oakland its first lead of the season.

On a first and goal set up by a 22-yard reception from new tight end Jared Cook, Carr was thinking six with no backs in the backfield. From five-wide, Carr would hit Cooper at the Tennessee five-yard line.

Titans rookie cornerback Adoree’ Jackson did not expect Cooper to cut in on that play and failed to make the stop at the five. Cooper never gave up on the play and spun his way out of it. With the help of his teammates surrounding him, Cooper would fight for those last five yards to find pay dirt.

Cooper made it a point to put on extra muscle in the offseason. It paid off big time on that play. Jackson too is a former first-round pick out of a blue-blood football power. Adding a physical component to his game will hopefully take Cooper’s game to the next level with the Silver and Black.
