Marshall Newhouse vs. Melvin Ingram

Raiders right tackle Marshall Newhouse will have his work cut out for him. He will be lining up across from one of the best pass rushers in football in Melvin Ingram of the Chargers. Ingram had his breakout season with the Chargers last year and got a nice contract because of it.

He is one of those players that the more you watch him, the more you appreciate his play. Though Ingram isn’t overly flashy coming off the edge, he’s technically sound and makes the smart football play most of the time.

The good news for the Raiders is that Newhouse has played well at right tackle for them. He had a great first two games with the Raiders in wins over the Tennessee Titans and the New York Jets. Admittedly, Newhouse has come back to Earth a bit, but is still at least an average right tackle in the NFL.

Of course, he’ll have to up his game on Sunday. He did well in Week 4 versus Von Miller of the Denver Broncos. That was his first big test of the season in divisional play. Ingram is next up on the schedule for Newhouse. Can he get it done against a top-10 pass rusher in football on Sunday?
