Oakland Raiders 7-Round Mock Draft entering Championship Sunday
By Brad Weiss
The Raiders got a terrific effort from some of their defensive backs in 2018, which is not something you can say every year. 2017 first round pick Gareon Conley has become a legitimate shutdown cornerback in the NFL, and 2016 first round pick Karl Joseph emerged as a tremendous force at safety.
In the 2018 NFL Draft, Oakland selected Wisconsin cornerback Nick Nelson in the fourth round, and he has the potential to be a very good player. Daryl Worley, though a pending free agent, is only 24-years old, and is another guy who can be a building block in this secondary moving forward.
Despite the influx of talent, Oakland still needs a true starter next to Conley, and Byron Murphy from Washington can be just that. Murphy is arguably the best cornerback this draft class has to offer, and is the kind of cornerback who has a great nose for the ball, and tremendous hands. He would be a welcome addition to any defensive backfield.
