5 positions the Oakland Raiders won’t draft in 2019
Tackle
The Raiders made a considerable investment in the offensive line with Kolton Miller (1st round) and Brandon Parker (3rd round) in last year’s draft. Both saw the field a ton in 2018, and despite the rough rookie seasons they had, they’ve been placed in the spot where Gruden and company will likely ride or die with both.
And even if they did choose to add more depth to the position, having second-year tackles starting and a rookie behind them is not a great idea. There is just not enough time to coach all of them up, and Oakland should not be giving any more responsibility to Tom Cable.
Donald Penn will be back with the team in 2019, and the hope is that he is healthy enough to push Parker for the starting spot on the right side. In a perfect world, Miller and Penn would be the starters, giving Parker a year to actually learn the NFL game, which should have been the case in 2018.
