Marcus Gilchrist, Safety

Heading into the offseason, the Raiders have three of their four safeties about to hit free agency, including veteran Marcus Gilchrist. Gilchrist was brought to the Raiders on a one-year deal this past free agency season, and while he played well in spurts, it will likely be a one-and-done situation for him in the Silver and Black.

Karl Joseph stepped up big time in 2018, and Erik Harris, who is also a free agent, showed he can play at the NFL level. Oakland may decide to roll with two new faces at this position moving forward, as they have a ton of draft capital, and there are some names they could target late in round one, or early in round two.

Gilchrist started 16 games for the Raiders last season, and is only 30-years old, so there should be some kind of market for him next season. It is time for the Raiders to invest in young talent in their secondary, and after seeing both Joseph, and cornerback Gareon Conley step up in 2018, it looks like they are starting to lean that way.
