Evan Worthington – Safety, Colorado

On a team that is sorely lacking size at the safety position outside of Erik Harris, Evan Worthington could be precisely the type of player Oakland needs in the secondary. He is 6’1 210lbs and has a skill the Raiders have desperately lacked on defense which is the ability to take the ball away.

Worthington has excellent ball skills with the ability to fight and snatch it away at the highest point. He is also someone willing to come up in run support although his angles and form need significant work.

There are two things Worthington struggles with which is why he’s a day 3 guy and not early day 2. The biggest being his mental processing which is still not great at the moment and he does guess a good amount and tries to make up for it with his length and long strides. Secondly, he is not the best in terms of movement skills which is evident by his combine scores. The 40 time isn’t as concerning because he’s a long strider.

Worthington is another guy that might not contribute much in year one; however, his length and ball skills make him a good matchup for tight ends and as a deep safety which the Raiders are missing at the moment.
