The need for edge rushers has been a continuing theme all offseason, and the Raiders have a chance to address it big time in the draft.

Josh Allen from Kentucky has all the tools you want in a modern day pass rusher, and his upside is extremely high. A dominant athlete who won SEC defensive player of the year in 2018,  Allen is just beginning to scratch the surface of what he can be as a primary pass rusher.

He took a monster leap his senior year in terms of hand usage and rush plan which is a sign that he’s working hard to improve his craft.  Combine his work ethic with his natural ability and Allen has all the tools to be a top-level pass rusher. Plus, he also brings versatility from his time playing off the ball which can only help aid his chances to be productive for any defense.

Though what may be most impressive is the fact the no one saw this coming from him. Allen was an unheralded 210lbs linebacker coming out of high school and transformed himself into a top 10 caliber pick. At the combine, they polled the offensive lineman on who was the best pass rusher they faced all season and Allen won by a decent margin. So he has the respect of his peers, and I have little reason to think he can’t do the same in the NFL.
